My college years held no traditions or continuity for me, as I stretched my attendance over two decades. Therefore, it’s my days at “Olde A.U.” that come to mind when I think of the good times I had in school.
– Marching band reigned supreme over all the other AAAA schools and my fellow devotees of DW Wilcox are still the first ones I look for at a reunion.
– Latin class and the Latin Club were a warm up for college: especially Mr. Daly’s annual toga party. Sitting board exams for college admission, I was prompted to recite something in Latin. The professors looked knowingly at one another and proclaimed I had obviously been taught by Daly, since all of his students came out speaking Latin with a Boston accent!
Wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing! I also had Daly as an instructor. Unfortunately, Latin wasn’t being taught then (1977). The AHSAA is working on a Oct. 23 All-Class Colonist Reunion on Oct. 23. We’re in the process of reserving the campus through the District. Once A Colonist, Always A Colonist!
