Anaheim High School inducted five new members to its Hall of Fame in a two-part celebration that included a dinner at the Anaheim White House and a football half-time ceremony.
Honorees ranged from an alumnus teacher from class of ’30 to a community volunteer who served the school’s athletic department for 28 years. They join 29 other inductees who have been named to the school’s Hall of Fame since the program’s inception in 2003.
The Class of 2010 honorees include Larry Quille, Class of ’30, an award-winning alumnus teacher; James Ross Johnson, Class of ’57, a former California State Senator; Ron Davini, Class of ’65, a former catcher with the Chicago White Sox and a highly successful high school baseball coach; Speed Castillo, a long-time administrator with the Anaheim Union High School District who is the most recognized referee in Orange County sports history; and Bob Hasenjaeger, a long-time volunteer whose 28-years of service earned him the title “Voice of the Colonists.” The awards for Quille and Hasenjaeger were given posthumously.
Nominations for 2011 may be submitted to anaheimalumni@yahoo.com. The nomination form and instructions are also available on this website.
Honorees are comprised of outstanding alumni, faculty, staff and community members who have a heartfelt passion for Anaheim High and are accomplished in their profession or have made a significant contribution to their community, state or nation.
“The event not only recognizes the honorees, but celebrates the school’s rich history,” said AHS Assistant Principal Carlos Perez, event co-chairman. “Anaheim High has an amazing list of distinguished alumni who serve as outstanding examples to today’s Colonists.”
